Brilliant First Week!!

Ladies 1

We had a great first week, with the opening party attended by a capacity crowd including the great Claire Kinson, who will be bringing us an evening of Kurt Weill later in the year. Five acts gave us a hilarious and entertaining taster of what’s to come.  Joe Cang was fabulous! So don’t miss his full set on this Friday 5th July at 9pm……….Julie Jepson compered the show and then wowed us with her off the cuff humour at her show on Sunday. Julie Ross had them queuing down the stairs and the staff in the bar downstairs said the applause was deafening!!  Well done Julie!

Next weekend It’s Sequins and Squidboy!!!  With the Goddess of Gleam – Lotta Quizeen, not forgetting Adam’s Apple, so book your tickets now!  We shall all be out on Parsons Green during the day on Saturday at Fair on the Green with 5000 visitors enjoying a host of stalls and fun for all the family 11-5pm!! The weather is looking good.

Do come and join us!! 7 of the Acts will be there!!!!

Official Theatre Review Fringe on the Fringe

Just Another Love Story; Music by Stephen Sondheim; Directed by Ray Rackman; Music directed by David Keef

It is always nice to receive nice reviews, it’s even better to receive great ones!

officialtheatre.com visited Upstairs at the Southern Cross on many occasions throughout the Fringe on the Fringe season, and decided to highlight three evenings. You may have already read our Latest News update on our Artistic Director’s triumph with Just Another Love Story, but what are equally thrilling (and well-deserved) are the reviews Hannah Levane and Jurassic Park the Musical both received from officialtheatre.com:

jurassic park musical

On Jurassic Park the Musical: “The show is high energy, sharp and executed with utter conviction. The company’s ability to turn up and perform almost anywhere is impressive, and the added characteristics of the venue just added to the co-ordinated mayhem the piece needs. This would be a perfect Edinburgh Fringe show, and one which guarantees a great night out. Die hard fans of the film will appreciate the intelligent references throughout and will be blown away by the conviction the cast gives to the piece.”

On Hannah Levane: “In her first solo cabaret Levane demonstrated exactly why she is so engaging to watch by performing a mix of songs that have all meant something to her at some stage in her life. Her voice is powerful, yet remarkably subtle, and she managed to demonstrate a diverse range of music each showcasing her unique vocal talents.”

Sarah Shelton, Creative Producer at Upstairs at the Southern Cross, has this to say:

“We are, simply, delighted that all three shows have received such amazing reviews. It is testament to the many people who worked tirelessly, not only in putting the Festival together, but also in creating the property that was so well received.”
